📄 SlideGist Terms of Service

Last Updated: September 19, 2026 Effective Date: September 19, 2026

SlideGist is a speech, meeting, and note capture application for iOS, Android, and the Web, operated by an independent developer based in Hong Kong (the "Operator", "we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using SlideGist, you ("you" or "User") agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use SlideGist.

Your subscription is additionally governed by the Subscription and Auto-Renewal Terms, which form part of these Terms.

1. The Service

SlideGist records a talk, meeting, or lecture while you photograph the slides, and turns the two together into something you can reuse:

  • Capture — audio recording with in-room photo capture, continuing while the screen is locked or you switch apps.
  • Live hints — during a recording, short AI-generated prompts drawn from what has been said so far.
  • Summary — a structured summary of the session, with an optional share image.
  • Restore slides — the photographed deck corrected, de-duplicated, and exported as a PDF with per-slide narration.
  • Regenerate slides — a new deck built from your content on a different template.
  • Format slides — a photographed slide separated back into editable text, tables, and images, exported as .pptx.
  • Notes and knowledge base — rich-text notes, imports, tags, related-entry discovery, and review tools.
  • Toolbox — a set of smaller AI utilities.

Availability of individual features varies by platform and by plan. We may add, change, or retire features (see §7).

SlideGist is for personal and lawful business use. Reselling or redistributing SlideGist output as a commercial product of your own requires our prior written authorization.

2. Intellectual Property

We own all intellectual property in SlideGist itself, including its software, design, and trademarks.

You agree not to:

  • Modify, adapt, or translate the SlideGist software
  • Decompile, reverse engineer, or disassemble it to obtain source code
  • Create derivative works of the software
  • Remove or alter copyright or trademark notices
  • Bypass security mechanisms in SlideGist or its dependencies

The content you create remains yours — your recordings, photos, notes, and the summaries, images, and decks generated from them. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and transmit that content to our processors solely in order to provide the Service to you. That license ends when you delete the content or close your account.

Note that material you photograph or record may be owned by someone else. This section gives you no rights in it; §3.4 covers your obligations.

3. Acceptable Use

3.1 Software Use

You agree not to:

  • Use unauthorized plug-ins, cheats, or tools that interfere with the Service
  • Use SlideGist in any activity that compromises network security
  • Create accounts in bulk by automated means, or simulate user behavior with scripts or bots
  • Abuse the referral, invite-code, or credit-reward mechanisms, including by creating accounts for the purpose of collecting grants

We may reverse credits obtained through such abuse and suspend the accounts involved.

3.2 Content Standards

You agree not to upload, generate, or distribute content that:

  • Violates applicable law in your jurisdiction
  • Infringes the intellectual property or privacy rights of others
  • Contains hate speech, harassment, threats, or incitement to violence
  • Depicts or promotes the sexual exploitation of minors
  • Constitutes spam or unsolicited advertising
  • Facilitates fraud, money laundering, or theft of trade secrets

We may remove content and suspend or terminate an account, without prior notice, for a violation of this section.

3.3 AI-Generated Content

  • AI output can be wrong. Summaries may omit or misstate what was said; restored and regenerated decks may misread a slide. Check the output before you rely on it, and never treat it as a verbatim record.
  • You may not use AI features to generate content prohibited by §3.2.
  • You are responsible for how you use, share, or distribute AI output.

3.4 Recording and Photography Compliance

You are responsible for having the right to record and photograph what you capture. In particular:

  • Some jurisdictions require the consent of every party before a conversation may be recorded. Obtain whatever consent the law where you are requires.
  • Do not record or photograph where it is prohibited — courts, secured facilities, and many workplaces and venues.
  • Conference slides, lecture material, and other people's decks are usually protected by copyright. Photographing them for your own study or reference is one thing; republishing them, including through a public share link, may not be permitted.
  • Do not use SlideGist to invade another person's privacy or to misappropriate confidential information.

3.5 Share Links

A share link makes the project behind it readable by anyone who has the link, without signing in, and lets link previews and search engines pick up its title, description, and preview image. Only share a project when you have the right to publish everything in it — including the voices of anyone recorded and any third-party material in the photographs. You may revoke a link at any time, but we cannot recall copies made while it was live.

3.6 One Account per Person

An account is for one person. Do not share credentials with others.

4. Plans and Credits

The Service is metered in credits. Every AI operation — transcription, summary, image, deck generation — deducts credits at the rate shown in the app before you run it. Your plan determines how many credits you receive each month.

PlanPriceCredits per monthDaily capNotable inclusions
Free—100200 credits/dayAll Toolbox tools; capture, summary, notes
BASIC$6/month or $54/year500noneEverything in Free, without the daily cap
PRO$12/month or $108/year1,000noneEverything in BASIC, plus voice input for notes and live transcription
MAX$36/month or $324/year3,500noneEverything in PRO, plus the advanced knowledge base (relation graph, deep insights)

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax your jurisdiction adds. The prices shown at the moment of purchase in your app store govern; regional pricing may differ.

How credits are granted and expire:

  • On registration you receive 500 credits, valid for 90 days.
  • Free accounts receive 100 credits per month for the first 6 months after registration, starting the month after you register. After that window, a free account receives no further monthly grant.
  • Paid plans receive their monthly grant every month for as long as the subscription is active, including on annual plans — an annual subscription is billed once a year but credited monthly, not 12 months up front.
  • A monthly grant expires at the end of the following month. Credits do not accumulate indefinitely.
  • Credit packs purchased separately are valid for 30 days from purchase.
  • Reward credits (invite codes, referrals, reviews, goals) carry the validity shown at the time they are awarded.
  • Credits are consumed oldest-expiry-first, have no cash value, are not transferable between accounts, and are not refundable for cash. Unused credits are not paid out when a subscription ends.

If a paid operation fails on our side, the credits are returned. If it fails because of what you supplied — an unreadable photo, an inaudible recording — the work was performed and the credits are not returned.

We may change plan prices, credit amounts, and operation costs. Changes are announced in advance as described in the Subscription Terms and never apply retroactively to a billing period you have already paid for.

5. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. In short: database access is limited by account ownership, but some stored files can be accessed by anyone with their exact public URL; project share pages are a separate feature. We do not train AI models on your content, and we do not sell your personal information. You may export or delete your data, or close your account, at any time.

6. Subscriptions and Billing

Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled. The full terms — renewal timing, how to cancel on each platform, price changes, and refunds — are set out in the Subscription and Auto-Renewal Terms.

7. Changes to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features. For a change that materially reduces what a paid plan provides, we will give at least 30 days' notice by in-app notice or email, and you may cancel before it takes effect. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give notice and refund the unused portion of any prepaid subscription period.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms. On termination your right to use the Service ends immediately; your right to export your data before deletion, and our obligations under the Privacy Policy, survive.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind.
  • We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or complete.
  • SlideGist is not a system of record. Do not rely on it as the sole record of a conversation, a lecture, or a meeting where accuracy matters legally or commercially.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data or profits.
  • Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Consumers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions with mandatory consumer protections keep every right those laws give them.

10. Third-Party Services

SlideGist integrates with the providers listed in §6 of the Privacy Policy. Disputes arising out of those services are subject to their own terms and are between you and that provider.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms. Material changes will be announced by in-app notice or email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date constitutes acceptance; if you do not accept, stop using the Service and close your account.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes shall be brought in the courts of Hong Kong.

This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring a small-claims action locally where the law allows it.

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
